Denver Post: Colorado Republicans want asset test for Medicaid

Despite studies and past experience in Colorado and other states that asset tests for Medicaid are costly, time intensive and rarely resulted in someone losing Medicaid eligibility, Rep. Frank McNulty, the Colorado State House Speaker, and House Republicans want to reinstate asset testing for Medicaid in 2012.

See the Denver Post article here.

Their argument comes despite the fact that the new federal health care law bars states from adding asset tests and despite prior experience in Colorado and elsewhere that such tests aren't worth the time or money.

According to the Denver Post article, Colorado would've lost $26 million in federal funding if if hadn't already dropped the asset test.
