Colorado WINS is the local union of state employees making historic gains to secure quality public services and jobs organizing across Colorado. WINS is the first joint local of the three largest public employee unions in the country - the AFSCME, AFT & SEIU. We are a democratic, member-driven organization representing state employees across all state departments and institutions. We strive to improve public services by working with management and stakeholders in order to address the needs of all Coloradans.
We are looking for a Field Organizer to join our team to do new member and leader recruitment and development to expand our capacity to win for front-line public servants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and develop leadership;
- Recruit new membership;
- Organize workers and worksite actions;
- Participate in contract/agreement campaigns;
- Lead mobilization(s) and turn out for actions and meetings;
- Maintain accurate worksite (building and worker) information;
- Communicate with Campaign Lead Organizers and Coordinators;
- Conduct effective house visits and one on one communication;
- Conduct worker meetings and leadership meetings;
- Conduct effective worksite visits
Job Requirements:
- Demonstrated commitment to social and economic justice
- A strong desire to win for Coloradan working families and public services;
- Strong social, written, and verbal communication skills
- Motivated self-starter who is also a solid team player
- Strong Computer skills a plus (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet)
- Experience in a labor or community organization a strong plus
- Experience in political organizing a plus
- Prior experience in comprehensive campaigns a strong plus
