COVID-19 After Action Report

Dear Brother and Sisters in Corrections,

When we convened our initial ZOOM discussion on the impacts of COVID-19 on correctional staff thirteen officers had died as a result of contracting this disease. Since that time, we have suffered an additional 65 deaths bringing the total to 78 of our brothers and sisters in just eight months.

On October 19th we are hoping that you will be able to join us once again as we reconvene this important working group. We are gathering information and research to produce an after-action report. Attached is a DRAFT survey that we hope will assist us in formulating the report. The survey is a work in progress for which we are seeking your ideas, advice, and edits before we hope to circulate it nationwide.

We know how busy you are and how taxing this situation has become for all of us. In corrections that’s when we do our best work, when our backs are against the wall. That’s when we stand united to face whatever challenge is before us. One of those moments is now.

Please take a moment, review the attached and let us know your thoughts. If you can review this over the next few days and let us know of your willingness to reconvene and your availability on Monday October 19th from 1-3 PM to join us, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again, and one final note. The American Correctional Officer Intelligence Network has formed a formal alliance with One Voice and we have merged as One Voice United. This merger greatly increases our reach and our capabilities to best serve our profession. We have also launched a website at www.onevoiceunited.org and later today we will be announcing the dates and schedule for the 2020 Medal of Honor Awards and Conference. The event will be held next May in DC in conjunction with Law Enforcement Officers week and the candlelight vigil.

Thanks again for your support, we look forward to hearing from you soon and speaking with you on the 19th.

Be safe, be well
