Vacancies in our State Correctional Facilities have been an ongoing issue putting employees’ safety and lives at risk. These vacancies require DOC employees to work untenable amounts of overtime to fill the gaps in their department.
Ultimately, these conditions have put all DOC employees at risk, both in and out of their workplaces. KRDO has highlighted the tragic case of Matthew Beauman, a Correctional Officer who lost his life on the road after working extensive overtime shifts.
