Despite the fact that 85% of Americans believe abortion should be legal in most or all circumstances, the Supreme Court’s ruling is in direct opposition to the fundamental freedoms and democratic ideals Americans value and uphold. The Roe v. Wade reversal by the Supreme Court strips fundamental rights from people and their families, and will disproportionately impact people of color, people with lower incomes, and people in rural communities.
We believe people and their families should be empowered to make healthcare decisions about their bodies, their lives, and their futures, without having to travel out-of-state or outside of their communities to receive an abortion.
In the upcoming primary and general elections, we have an opportunity to vote for leaders who reflect and uphold the will of the American people and our democratic ideals. The battle starts now. Today we march in protest of this action, and tomorrow we’ll be knocking doors helping Coloradans vote for progressive leaders who will defend the right to choose what is best for our bodies, families, and lives. We urge you to do the same.
While abortion remains legal in some states, thirty-nine states are expected to immediately ban or severely restrict access. Thanks to the work of politicians we helped elect, the fight for your rights, including keeping abortion legal in Colorado, continues. If you live in a state that does not safeguard your rights, we urge you to consult your healthcare provider for the safest and most accurate information regarding your healthcare, including abortion care and access.
